Calf implant
Calf implants Despite having tried to improve their appearance with exercise, a man may be self-concious about the size and shape of his lower legs. The calf implant operation can improve the size and shape of the calf area. Women wish to get more symmetrical appearance of their legs. Procedure: Under general anaesthetic, a cut is made in one of the crease lines behind the knee and a silicone implant is inserted through this cut so that it sits on top of the calf muscle. Risks can include infection, blood loss, and fluid collection, movement of the implant or scarring. If the implant is infected, ruptures or moves, the implant may have to be removed, which is not always a straightforward procedure. After surgery you may feel some degree of pain. Dr. David will prescribe painkillers for you. During the first two days you will be asked to raise your legs whenever you are sitting, in order to reduce swelling. Afterwards, the bandages are removed and you are encouraged to walk more intensively to train your calve muscles. For about two weeks you will feel like your calves have been through excessive workout. Swelling and bruising also may appear. It is only temporary and will improve over time. You'll be able to return to your normal routine after 7-10 days. You will get detailed instructions from dr. David, regarding activities you should avoid. Usually, most patients are able to return to their daily activities after 4-6 weeks.
